Authority file management

Convenient interface

LIBERO’s authority file management offers an easy to use interface for maintaining all authority files which are used.

There are standard authority files with a thesaurus structure for:

  • Subject headings
  • Series
  • Local subject headings
  • Corporate bodies
  • Classifications
  • Personal names

Default authority files can be created – for example in MAB format – but this is not mandatory. LIBERO automatically assembles authority files when records are saved during cataloguing.

With subject headings up to five authority files can be used in parallel.

The thesaurus structure contains at least the authorized term, the non-preferred term, see also references, broader and narrower terms and explanatory notes.

Linking via standard numbers is not mandatory.

In addition it is possible to create your own authority files (for such things as publisher, classification etc.). Every MAB/Marc field can be checked via the parameter set-up process against your own authority files.
