Shibboleth with LIBERO

Authentification and authorization

Shibboleth is an open source project which is carried out within the framework of the Internet2 dicussion and is implemented and installed worldwide to a variety of different specifications.

Shibboleth itself consists of an application core which performs two main tasks by means of add-ons and scripts:

  • authentification of an 'object' (mainly one user)
  • authorization of usage of certain services

Shibboleth itself does NOT undertake the task of authentification or authorization, rather serves as an intermediary between different systems with the aim of facilitating the so-called 'single sign on'.

LIB-IT provides the required scripts free of charge on request.
